About the breed

The Sacred Birman cat breed combines a refined appearance with a soft and magical nature. Their expressive sapphire blue or crystal sea blue eyes highlight their round head. The fur is short but dense, possessing a variety of colors from deep chocolate to soft purple tones. Their body is stocky and of medium length, with a smooth line that transitions to round and harmonious legs. Their friendly and cuddly personality makes them ideal companions, especially for families with children who will enjoy their gentle touches and playful emotions.

Origin of the breed

The Sacred Birman cat breed combines a long history and legend from ancient times. Its origins can be traced back to ancient Burma (present-day Myanmar).

In the 20th century, in 1919, several Birman cats were given to Augustin Louis Perrier, who worked as a gardener at the Paris Zoo. After this initial conception, the breed evolved and was introduced to the western world. It quickly gained popularity due to its extremely charming appearance and friendly nature.

The origin of the Sacred Birman cat breed intertwines historical events, myths and legends, making it not only visually exquisite but also mystical in its own way.

Character

The Birmans are known for their peaceful and friendly nature. They are loving and affectionate towards their owners, to whom they love to cling. However, Birmans are also playboys and love to play and have fun. They are intelligent and tend to connect emotionally with people.

Health

The Birmans are generally healthy cats with long lives. However, like any breed, they can be susceptible to certain inherited diseases, such as genetic respiratory problems. Regular visits to the veterinarian and proper care for their health are necessary.

Nutrition

To maintain their health, the Birmans need a balanced and nutritionally appropriate diet. Like all cats, they need protein from animal sources, carbohydrates and vitamins. It is important to monitor their weight and prevent them from gaining excess weight.

Fur

The fur of the Birman is short, dense and soft to the touch. It needs minimal care, but regular brushing is good to maintain the shine and prevent excessive hairball formation.

Attitude towards children

Due to their calm and friendly nature, the Sacred Birman cats can be suitable for families with children. They love the attention and cuddles that children often provide. Birmans are interactive cats that can fit into children’s games and entertainment. However, it is important to teach children how to properly treat a cat – to be gentle and respectful with it.
